About Us ImagesDermal Fillers

What are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal Fillers basically are just tiny injections of a gel into the skin which help lift and shape lines, wrinkles and folds, and to give volume and shape to lips. They can be used to contour the face and to create volume where it is needed most. The gel pushes the skin to the desired level giving a smooth and even look.

At Infinity we use some of the market leading products (Teosyal or Juvéderm Ultra®). We use a variety of approved dermal fillers and our team of cosmetic specialists will be able to advise you of the most suitable one for you.

No allergy test is necessary so you can be treated immediately.

Which areas can you treat?

With Dermal Fillers common areas to treat are nose-to-mouth lines (naso labial folds), frown lines, chin area, lip volume enhancement and fine lip shaping, vertical lip lines(smokers lines) and also contouring of the face by augmenting cheekbones and chins.

In fact almost any area of the face can be treated with one of the different strengths of our Teosyal products available.

How is the treatment performed?

The gel is injected in tiny amounts using a very fine needle into the different levels of the skin depending on the effect required and the treatment recommended. The gel lifts up the wrinkle or fold to  correct it.  For lips the lip line may be injected in the same way to gently define the shape. Lips can be made fuller by injecting a small amount into the “body” of the lip which will give thin lips more volume.   After the treatment at Infinity a soothing cream is applied.  The treatment is quick and the results can be seen immediately.

Does it hurt?

The majority of people find the injections relatively painless but just in case we normally use a light anaesthetic cream on the skin prior to treatment. Teosyal has a small amount of local anaesthetic already mixed with the gel so this gives a very pain free treatment, particularly for the lips.

What will I be like after the treatment?

Immediately after the treatment you will be a little pink and slightly swollen.  However this settles down quite quickly and many people go back to work straight after their treatment.  On some occassions there is bruising especially if you have a tendency to bruise or if you take aspirin/anti coagulants or certain health supplements regularly.

How long does it last?

This can vary patient to patient depending on the area to be treated and the amount of product injected. However most treatments last from four months to nine months but we recommend that after the initial treatment a “top up” is carried out up to 12 months to increase the longevity of the effects.

What are the side effects?

With all medical treatments there is a possibility that some common injection related reactions may occur. Inflammatory reactions giving rise to redness, swelling, discomfort, itching, bruising and tenderness at the implant site. They typically resolve spontaneously after a few days. To minimise bruising an anti-bruising cream is recommended following treatment at Infinity.
